LINCOLN — A 33-year-old man from Glenvil was sentenced Oct. 22 in federal court in Lincoln to 72 months in prison for a conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than 1 kilogram of cocaine, the U.S. attorney announced.
Case and sentence
United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods said the sentence, handed down by United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis, also includes a five-year term of supervised release following the prison term. Because this is a federal sentence, there is no parole, Woods said.
- The defendant was convicted of conspiring to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing cocaine and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more.
- Judge Bazis imposed a total sentence of 72 months’ imprisonment on Oct. 22.
- After release from custody, the defendant will begin five years of supervised release.
How authorities say the drugs were seized
The U.S. attorney’s office said the case stems from travel in June 2025 when the defendant and co-defendants drove from Nebraska to Chicago to obtain a kilogram of cocaine. On the return trip the Nebraska State Patrol initiated a traffic stop after observing the vehicle speeding, the announcement said.
A trooper reported smelling marijuana and conducted a vehicle search. Investigators found a small amount of marijuana in a purse and a black backpack under a rear seat containing a clear cellophane bundle that later tested positive for more than one kilogram of cocaine, the U.S. attorney’s statement said. A drug ledger was also recovered during the stop, according to the announcement.

The U.S. attorney’s office said one co-defendant pleaded guilty July 8, 2026, to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more and was sentenced Oct. 15 to 24 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Another co-defendant pleaded guilty Jan. 14, 2026, and is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 5, 2026.
The investigation was conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol Commercial Interdiction Unit in Omaha, the announcement said.
The U.S. attorney’s office provided the sentencing information and described the evidentiary basis for the convictions as part of its public announcement of the federal prosecution.
